Manchester United confirms Michael Carrick will stay on as interim manager amid speculation over replacements
Manchester United says Carrick will continue in charge for the upcoming match, while reports suggest several managers are being considered for a permanent role.
Manchester United announced that Michael Carring will remain on the bench for Saturday's fixture as the club seeks to improve recent results. The decision follows a period of uncertainty during which the club explored possible changes to the coaching staff.
Former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel commented that striker Rasmus Hojlund has the potential to score consistently, noting that the player has faced limited service from teammates. Schmeichel also highlighted the club's recent recruitment of Benjamin Šeško, describing him as a talented but injury-prone forward.
"Rasmus Hojlund was a goal machine. And he will be a goal machine everywhere. He’ll have periods where he doesn’t score, but he will score a lot of goals," Schmeichel said.
"He is young, a lifelong Manchester United fan, and would do anything for the club."
Football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Eddie Howe is among the names being discussed for the permanent managerial position. Romano said the club has held conversations with agents and representatives of several candidates, describing the process as routine when a team is underperforming.
"It’s normal when things are not going well you start preparing for a potential change," Romano explained.
Romano added that three distinct managers are currently under consideration, though no final decision has been announced.
The club has not confirmed any specific candidate, and the situation remains open as Manchester United evaluates its options.
