Apple unveils new 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac with M6 chip
Apple introduced a 14-inch MacBook Pro and an iMac equipped with its M6 processor, promising up to 30% faster graphics and significantly improved on-device AI performance.
Apple announced on Tuesday the release of a 14-inch MacBook Pro and a new iMac that both use the company's latest M6 chip. The MacBook Pro is priced from $1,999, while the iMac starts at $1,499. Pre-orders begin Wednesday in 35 countries and regions, including the United States, with shipments slated to start on November 6.
Apple said the M6-powered MacBook Pro can deliver up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% faster AI performance compared with the previous M5 model, and it offers up to 24 hours of battery life. The iMac is reported to provide up to five times faster on-device AI performance than the earlier M4-based version.
The product launches precede Apple’s “Pro and tell” event in Los Angeles on October 28, which Bloomberg News has linked to the possible debut of a touch-screen MacBook Pro.
