Double elimination on Dancing with the Stars' Halloween episode sends two couples home

Summary

The Halloween-themed episode of Season 35 featured horror-movie inspired dances and a double elimination, resulting in the departure of Jackson Olson with Emma Slater and Tyler Cameron with Sharna Burgess.

Season 35 of Dancing with the Stars aired a Halloween-themed episode that paired each performance with a classic horror film. Guest judge Shirley Ballas joined the regular panel, and the show featured a double elimination because no contestant had been eliminated the previous week.

Among the performances, Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa tackled an Argentine tango set to music from The Omen, while Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson earned a perfect score for a contemporary routine inspired by Saw. Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik performed a paso doble to a song from Sinners, and Jenna Dewan with Val Chmerkovskiy delivered an Argentine tango with a zombie-film motif.

Other notable routines included Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold’s contemporary to “You Are My Sunshine” with an Annabelle: Creation theme, and Paralympian Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach’s jazz number referencing The Invisible Man. Savannah Olson and Emma Slater presented a contemporary piece inspired by Joker, and Tyler Cameron with Sharna Burgess danced a Viennese waltz to a track from Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

"Bravo! That is the contemporary we’ve been waiting for," judge Carrie Ann expressed after Shum and Johnson’s dance. "I’ve seen those moves… but never with that power, that precision!" Derek Hough said of Dewan’s tango. "Only you can make the horrible look beautiful," Bruno Tonioli told Mark Ballas during Maura Higgins’ performance.

The judges’ scores ranged from 26 to 40 points. After tallying the votes, the double elimination removed the pairs of Jackson Olson with Emma Slater and Tyler Cameron with Sharna Burgess. The next episode is scheduled to feature a Disney Night theme.
