Singapore's PM2.5 and PSI Levels Remain Within Normal Ranges on Oct 28

सारांश

Hourly PM2.5 readings stayed between 26 and 46 µg/m³ and the 24-hour PSI ranged from 66 to 76, keeping air quality in the good-to-moderate band across Singapore.

Singapore's air quality on Oct 28 remained within normal limits, with hourly PM2.5 concentrations measured between 26 and 46 µg/m³ and the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) recorded between 66 and 76 across all five regions. The National Environment Agency (NEA) explained that PM2.5 values below 55 are considered normal, while PSI scores under 100 indicate good to moderate air quality.

The agency's haze advisory issued on the evening of Oct 27 projected the PSI for Oct 28 to stay in the 60-90 range. NEA noted that smoke haze was present over Kalimantan and Sumatra on Oct 27, but conditions over Singapore were dry. Expected showers across Kalimantan, Sumatra, Singapore and nearby areas on Oct 28 are likely to aid in reducing haze.

Wind patterns are forecast to shift from east-northeast on Oct 28 to east-southeast or south-southeast on Oct 29 and 30. > "While this could transport smoke haze from southern Sumatra, showers are forecast over the region which should help to lower the risk of haze," said an NEA spokesperson.

NEA advises that when PSI exceeds the unhealthy threshold of 101, vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children and individuals with health conditions should limit outdoor activities.
