Cyclone Arnab Remains Near Andhra Pradesh Coast as Landfall Continues

सारांश

The India Meteorological Department said Cyclone Arnab stayed almost stationary along the Andhra Pradesh shoreline, with the landfall process expected to last another two to three hours.

Cyclone Arnab stayed near the Andhra Pradesh coast early on Wednesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reporting that the landfall process would continue for the next two to three hours. The storm’s northern spiral band has moved further inland while its centre remains close to the shoreline.

The IMD’s 5:30 a.m. update stated: "The cyclone remains practically stationary along the Andhra Pradesh coast, and the landfall process is expected to continue for another 2-3 hours."

Heavy rain affected several districts, prompting police rescues of stranded residents. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation in the morning. The Civil Aviation Ministry convened a review meeting the previous day to assess flight safety amid the approaching very severe cyclonic storm, which is forecast to bring wind speeds of 125–135 km/h.

Arnab began its landfall near Narsapur in West Godavari district around 1:30 a.m., though IMD experts said the precise landfall point could only be confirmed after the process concludes.
