Rays reliever Cam Booser describes worst feeling after Brewers' eight-run inning
Cam Booser said he felt like he let his team down after allowing four runs in an eight-run, two-out World Series inning, as the Brewers took a 10-1 lead over Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay Rays reliever Cam Booser entered the fifth inning of Game 3 with the bases loaded and two outs, trying to keep the game close as the team trailed 2-0 to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers then became the first team in World Series history to score eight runs with two outs, and Booser surrendered four of those runs.
"Worst feeling in the world, feeling like you let your team down," Booser said after the 10-1 loss.
Shortstop Taylor Walls noted that a single by Brice Turang that slipped past his glove marked a turning point for Milwaukee. After a ground ball by center fielder Garrett Mitchell drove in a run, Brewers shortstop Cooper Pratt hit a grounder that passed a diving Junior Caminero, extending the lead to 7-0. A subsequent RBI double by Sal Frelick made it 8-0.
Rays manager Kevin Cash removed Booser after three pitches resulted in three consecutive hits. Cash said the team must seize its opportunity, adding, "We’ve got a seat at the table. We’ve got to do something with the chip. Obviously the only thing we can do is win tomorrow."
The Rays now trail the series 3-0 and will try to avoid a sweep when they face the Brewers again on Tuesday night.
