Apple unveils iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro updates with M6 processor

सारांश

Apple introduced refreshed iMac and entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the new M6 chip and featuring upgraded wireless N1 chips for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

Apple announced updated versions of its iMac and 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro, both equipped with the recently launched M6 processor. The iMac offers two configurations: a model with two Thunderbolt ports that includes a 10-core CPU and GPU, and a four-port version with 12-core CPU and GPU. The lower-spec iMac supports up to 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, while the higher-spec can be configured with up to 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage. The MacBook Pro is available only with the 12-core CPU/GPU variant, supporting up to 32 GB of RAM and 4 TB of storage.

Apple said the M6 chip delivers up to 40 percent faster CPU performance, up to double the graphics speed, and nearly five times faster on-device AI compared with the earlier M4 chip, matching results seen in recent M6 Mac mini tests. The iMac is also expected to double SSD read/write speeds over the M4 model. For the MacBook Pro, the generational jump from M5 to M6 translates to roughly 30 percent faster graphics and twice the Neural Engine performance.

Both machines incorporate Apple’s new N1 chip, enabling Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity. The iMac can be ordered with up to 2.5 Gb Ethernet, while the MacBook Pro continues without an Ethernet port. The designs remain unchanged from the previous models. Pricing starts at $1,499 for the two-port iMac, $1,699 for the four-port iMac, and $1,999 for the M6-powered MacBook Pro. Pre-orders begin on October 28, with shipments slated for November 6.
