Ontario expands free flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccinations to all residents

Resumen

Ontario health officials announced that free flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccines are now available to anyone six months and older at pharmacies, public health units and medical offices across the province.

Ontario is offering free flu and COVID-19 shots to all residents six months of age and older, with vaccinations available at participating pharmacies, public health units and doctors' or nurse practitioners' offices. The program also includes adult RSV immunizations, Abrysvo® or Arexvy, for people 75 years and older and certain high-risk groups.

"Getting immunized is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself, your loved ones and our communities," said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. "You can help prevent serious illness, reduce the spread of respiratory viruses and keep Ontario healthy this fall and winter with our free, safe and effective vaccines available across the province."

Health officials emphasized that receiving the flu and COVID-19 vaccines together is safe and recommended to avoid multiple health-care visits. Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health, added that vaccination reduces the risk of severe illness and hospitalisation, especially for older adults and other vulnerable populations.

"Vaccination helps reduce the risk of severe illness and hospitalization, particularly for older adults and other vulnerable populations. I encourage Ontarians to get vaccinated as soon as possible to help keep themselves and their loved ones healthy this season," he said.

The RSV vaccine is also offered to pregnant women, infants born on or after April 1 2026, high-risk children under two years, and adults aged 60-74 in long-term care or retirement homes. All vaccines are provided at no cost to eligible individuals, and residents are advised to confirm availability with their provider before visiting.

Public health resources remind Ontarians to maintain other preventive measures, such as frequent hand-washing, covering coughs and staying home when ill. For further information, residents can contact Health811 or consult their local health-care provider.
