Trump heads to Texas for back-to-back rallies ahead of midterm vote
President Donald Trump will speak in Corpus Christi and Lubbock on Tuesday, a week before Election Day, as the Republican Party intensifies its effort to boost turnout in key Senate contests.
President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold two rallies in Texas on Tuesday, targeting voters in Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. local time and in Lubbock at 6 p.m. local time. The stops come a week before the midterm Election Day and follow a campaign appearance in Mississippi, where Trump supported Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith against a competitive Democratic challenger.
The Texas appearances are part of a broader Republican push to defend its majorities in Congress, especially in Senate races that have become more competitive than expected. Party officials have emphasized the importance of voter turnout in traditionally red states as early voting continues.
Trump’s campaign has framed the visits as a rallying call for Republican voters, while Democratic opponents in the state are warning that the races are unusually close.
