England captain Harry Kane hosted an exclusive celebration at a Soho nightclub after being named the world’s best player, with family, friends and former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood in attendance.

Harry Kane marked his Ballon d'Or award by hosting an after-party at the Cirque le Soir nightclub in Soho. The 33-year-old striker was joined by his wife Kate Goodland, his parents Patrick and Kim, his brother and agent Charlie, as well as several supporters who documented the event.

Guests were served eight magnums of champagne that were carried across the dance floor, each topped with sparklers. The venue also offered magnums of Ace Of Spades whisky priced at £2,300 per bottle, reflecting the lavish nature of the celebration.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood, who gave Kane his first start for the club in 2014, was seen on the dance floor and later standing at the bar beside Kane’s trophy, admiring the golden ball.

"Sounds crazy but sounds pretty good," Kane said when asked about being called the "best player in the world" by Sky Sports. "A special night, just trying to take it all in really. It feels like a dream. Thank you everyone for all the love and support, I really felt it. From social media, here in London and in the theatre last night. Thank you very much and this one’s for all of us." "The emotion – relief, joy, happiness, excitement – there was so much waiting to find out the winner and in that moment it was quite nerve-wracking. So to have that release and share it with everyone there in the theatre was special."

Kane later posted a message on social media reading, "Work hard in silence. Let success be your noise," thanking supporters and journalists who voted for him.
