Summary

ABC has indefinitely suspended 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' following the host's controversial comments regarding the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

ABC has indefinitely suspended 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' after host Jimmy Kimmel made contentious remarks concerning the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

During his monologue on Monday, Kimmel criticized supporters of former President Donald Trump, stating, "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

The comments prompted Nexstar Media Group, which operates 23 ABC affiliates, to announce it would preempt the show indefinitely. Nexstar's broadcasting division president, Andrew Alford, described Kimmel's remarks as "offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse."

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr also weighed in, suggesting potential action against Kimmel and ABC.

Former President Trump welcomed ABC's decision, commenting, "Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done."

As of now, Kimmel has not publicly responded to the suspension.
