Voice actor Eric Bauza, known for Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, dies at 46
Emmy-winning voice actor Eric Bauka died at 46 from hypertensive cardiovascular disease, prompting statements from his manager and Warner Bros. executives.
Eric Bauka, an Emmy-winning voice actor best known for voicing Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and numerous other "Looney Tunes" characters, died on Sunday at age 46, his manager said. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner listed hypertensive cardiovascular disease as the cause of death.
"Eric was a unique and versatile voice actor who was loved by everyone he knew and worked with," manager Judy Coppage said. "His sudden passing is a shock to all of us, and he will be deeply missed. It's a profound loss for his family, the animation industry and his fans."
Warner Bros. Chairman Channing Dungey and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation President and CCO Bill Damaschke released a statement noting Bauka's 15-year tenure at the studio and his role in continuing the legacy of the "Looney Tunes" franchise. "Eric Bauka was a unique voice talent who brought joy and laughter to millions around the world," the statement read.
Born in Canada, Bauka accumulated more than 400 acting credits, including roles in the recent "Space Jam" film, "Avatar: The Last Airbender," "Puss in Boots," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "Bob's Burgers" and "Teen Titans Go!" He won Children's and Family Emmy Awards in 2022, 2023 and 2025 and received multiple Daytime Emmy nominations.
In an August interview with CBS LA, Bauka said his work was guided by the original voice artist Mel Blanc, calling him "the blueprint of these characters." He described the characters as "like your oldest family members" and noted that while Bugs Bunny was his favorite role, he increasingly identified with Daffy Duck as he grew older.
