Cast and Creator Respond to Adam Brody's Israel-Palestine Comments

摘要

Adam Brody's remarks describing Israel's actions as genocide and supporting a free Palestine prompted reactions from co-star Tovah Feldshuh and series creator Erin Foster, who emphasized differing political views within the show’s team.

Actor Adam Brody, who portrays Rabbi Noah Roklov in the Netflix series Nobody Wants This, said in a September interview with GQ that he views Israel's actions in Gaza as genocide and supports a free Palestine. He added that a future U.S. administration could help change policies he believes worsen the situation.

"Put me down as thinking it's a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine. It's awful that it's taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago. I'm hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is," Brody said.

Co-star Tovah Feldshuh, who plays the rabbi’s mother, responded in an interview with the New York Post, rejecting the genocide characterization and defending Israel’s role in the democratic world.

"To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild. It's right out of Hitler's playbook. You take the victim and you make the victim the perpetrator," Feldshuh said, adding that she would remain professional toward colleagues with differing views.

Series creator Erin Foster addressed the controversy on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, acknowledging that political disagreements exist among the cast but do not affect their working relationships.

"While I love Adam, I also disagree with him. And that's okay," Foster said. She also expressed support for Jewish fans of the show, noting that the series is intended as a "love letter to Judaism."

The series follows an agnostic podcaster and a rabbi navigating romance amid faith and family differences.
