Microsoft launches voluntary buyout program for up to 60,000 staff
Microsoft announced a limited-time voluntary exit offer covering roughly 60,000 employees in several divisions, excluding marketing, commercial business and security units.
Microsoft said on Monday it is rolling out a voluntary buyout program that could affect about 60,000 employees across a range of divisions, including AI experiences, Copilot, finance, human resources, Xbox and Windows + Devices. The offer does not extend to staff in marketing, commercial business or security units.
"This offer will be available to eligible employees in participating teams in Canada, India, the United Kingdom and the United States at level 70 and below," the company said in a blog post.
The program is described as time-limited and voluntary, and is said to be based on insights from a prior voluntary retirement initiative. Microsoft did not provide a comment on the exact number of employees impacted when approached for further details.
