Analyst claims Jaylen Brown asked Celtics for trade before deal with Sixers

Résumé

Former Celtics star Jaylen Brown reportedly demanded a trade, according to analyst Brian Scalabrine, who said the player presented a list of conditions before being sent to Philadelphia.

Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown is said to have asked the organization for a trade, analyst Brian Scalabrine reported on his podcast "The Starting Lineup." Scalabrine said Brown allegedly gave the team a list of demands and indicated a preference for a move to Milwaukee, before the Celtics completed a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers that sent Paul George and draft assets to Boston.

"My understanding is Jaylen Brown went to the organization and had a list of demands. It was like you either do this or you trade me," Scalabrine said.

Scalabrine added that Brown reportedly contacted teammates about a potential Milwaukee destination and suggested that any criticism of teammate Jayson Tatum was unfounded. The analyst also noted that no prior reports had indicated Brown was seeking a trade, and that the Celtics' pursuit of a new partner culminated in the Sixers agreement.

The trade has intensified media focus on the former Boston teammates, who are set to face each other when the Celtics play the Sixers on Nov. 10 in Philadelphia. Tatum previously said he wanted to speak with Brown after the deal, while Brown later responded after a Sixers win, saying there was no conflict between them.
