Taylor Swift and Travis Kelke’s $30 Million Madison Square Garden Wedding Scaled Back Over Costly Props

Resumen

Plans for a $7 million carousel and a man-made pond were dropped from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July wedding at Madison Square Garden due to expense and safety concerns.

Taylor Swift, 36, and NFL tight end Travis Kelce, 37, cancelled two elaborate elements that had been slated for their July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden. A source told the Daily Mail that a two-tiered carousel, which would have cost up to $7 million, was removed because it was deemed too expensive, even after a proposed reduction to a single level that would still have cost $3.5 million. Instead, the couple installed a large tent that housed carnival-style games such as corn-hole and mini-golf.

The same source said a pond that was to sit beneath the altar was also abandoned, citing safety and engineering challenges. "The edges weren’t tall enough and it would be really easy to fall over," the insider explained.

The ceremony, attended by about 1,000 guests, featured a Christian Dior haute couture gown for Swift and was officiated by Adam Sandler. Guests enjoyed specialty cocktails, a menu that included lobster, chicken and French fries, and various carnival attractions.

Kelce later described the event as "the best night of my life" in an ESPN interview, adding that marrying Swift exceeded his expectations and that the highlight was the presence of the guests and the atmosphere of love.
