Israel denounces UN commission report as misinformation campaign
Israel's diplomatic mission in Geneva called for the dissolution of a UN inquiry after the report accused Israel of ongoing genocidal acts and sexual violence, which Israel rejects as false.
Israel's mission in Geneva responded to a UN-commissioned report by urging its dissolution and labeling the document an example of a “misinformation campaign to demonize the state of Israel and portray its very existence as criminal.”
The report, issued by the Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, alleges that Israeli forces continued genocidal actions in Gaza after a ceasefire was signed in October 2025, expanding control from 53% to at least 60% of the territory. It cites 196 Palestinian deaths since the ceasefire, including women and children, and accuses Israeli soldiers and prison guards of war crimes and crimes against humanity in both Gaza and the West Bank, detailing alleged sexual assaults on detainees.
Israel has repeatedly rejected the commission's findings, denying accusations of genocide and sexual violence. The Associated Press noted it could not independently verify the graphic accounts of assaults described in the report.
The ceasefire followed the Hamas-led attacks on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, which killed 1,200 people and resulted in 251 hostages. Israel's subsequent military campaign has been reported by Gaza's Health Ministry to have caused over 74,000 Palestinian deaths.
