Apple launches iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 with expanded Siri language support

Résumé

Apple's latest software updates add new Siri AI languages, messaging suggestions, and several feature enhancements for iPhone and iPad devices.

Apple released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, the first major updates to the operating systems introduced in September. The updates are available for all compatible iPhone and iPad models, including the iPhone Duo and the newly announced OLED iPad mini.

Siri AI now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, and can recall prior conversations, draw information from photos, calendar events, voicemails and Safari history, and allow users to exclude specific apps from Siri, Search and suggestions. The feature is not available in the European Union or mainland China.

Additional changes include profile support in the Apple TV app, a refreshed Apple Music icon, AI-driven suggestions in Messages for quick actions in Calendar and Reminders, and new capabilities such as shared-album caption editing, SynthID watermarking in Photos, a redesigned Home tab in Podcasts, a Friends tab in Games, and third-party sign-language interpreter or live caption support in Face-Time.

For iPhone Duo users, the update adds Siri AI context retention, Apple Pencil support, Edge Light for video calls, and the same Messages suggestions. iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 can be installed over the air via Settings > General > Software Update, and Apple also released iOS 26.7.2 with security patches.
