Eric Bauza, the Emmy-winning actor who voiced several iconic Looney Tunes characters, died suddenly at age 46, according to his family and the Los Angeles County medical examiner.

Eric Bauza, a Canadian-American voice actor celebrated for portraying Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and other Looney Tunes figures, died on Sunday at his home. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office said he had been diagnosed with hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

His family announced the death on Instagram, noting that he "passed away suddenly" without providing further details.

"Eric was a unique and versatile voice actor who was loved by everyone he knew and worked with," said his manager Judy Coppage in an email to NBC News. "His sudden passing is a shock to all of us, and he will be deeply missed. It’s a profound loss for his family, the animation industry and his fans," Coppage added.

Bauza earned three Emmy Awards between 2022 and 2025 for his work on animated series and films. He was the first person of color to voice Bugs Bunny, a milestone he highlighted in a 2021 interview.

In addition to his Looney Tunes roles, Bauza contributed voices to the 2021 film "Space Jam: A New Legacy," the 2023 "Super Mario Bros. Movie," and the 2026 "Coyote vs. Acme" release, as well as characters in series such as "Ren & Stimpy," "The Fairly OddParents," "Muppet Babies" and "DuckTales."
