Voice actor Eric Bauza, known for Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, dies at 46

摘要

Eric Bauza, the Canadian-born voice actor who portrayed Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck in recent Looney Tunes productions, died in Los Angeles County at age 46 from hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

Eric Bauza, a veteran voice actor recognized for his work on recent Looney Tunes cartoons, died on Sunday at a residence in Los Angeles County, officials said. The Los Angeles County medical examiner listed hypertensive cardiovascular disease as the cause of death and noted that Bauza also suffered from sleep apnea and class-two obesity.

A family statement posted on Instagram confirmed his passing and indicated that further details would be released later. His manager, Judy Coppage, told NBCLA that Bauza was "a unique and versatile voice actor" and described his death as a loss for his family, the animation industry and fans.

Bauza, who earned three Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, voiced Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck in the "Looney Tunes Cartoons" series (2019-2023) and in the 2018 video game "Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem." He also performed as Pepe Le Pew and Marvin the Martian in "The New Looney Tunes" and reprised the iconic characters in the 2024 film "Coyote vs. Acme." An upcoming pre-production project, "Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical," listed him as the voice of Daffy Duck.

His career, spanning more than two decades, included roles in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "Ben 10: Omniverse," "Transformers: Robots in Disguise," as well as guest spots on "Bob’s Burgers," "Rick and Morty" and "The Mighty Ones." He also contributed voices to "The Book of Life," "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" and the Woody Woodpecker feature film.

Warner Bros. Television Group chairman Channing Dungey said Bauza was "a unique voice talent who brought joy and laughter to millions" and noted his 15-year tenure at Warner Bros. Animation. Producer Chris DeFaria praised Bauza’s impact on "Coyote vs. Acme," saying the actor "embodied everything we wanted from this film" and highlighted his broader influence on the animation field.
