Summary

Former Alaska Rep. Mary Peltola and her family sustained minor injuries in a multi-vehicle collision, prompting her campaign to reschedule upcoming events.

Former Alaska Representative Mary Peltola will delay several campaign appearances after she and her family were injured in a car crash on Saturday. The incident, confirmed by Anchorage police, involved three vehicles and resulted in non-life-threatening injuries.

"Mary and her family sustained minor injuries but are in good spirits. Unfortunately, per the advice of medical professionals, Mary’s upcoming events in Fairbanks and Bethel will be rescheduled for later in the week as she takes time to recover," campaign manager Cheryl Bruce said.

"Mary is disappointed that the accident is delaying the start of her Alaska Always Tour, and she is eager to get back on the campaign trail to speak directly with Alaskans about her plan to take on the rigged system and lower costs for working families," Bruce added.

Peltola was traveling to the Alaska Federation of Natives’ annual banquet when the collision occurred. The police investigation is ongoing. The Democrat is currently contesting a competitive Senate race against incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, a contest that has drawn national attention amid broader political dynamics in the state.
