DC’s "Clayface" Opens to $43 Million Worldwide, Giving Skydance Back-to-Back #1 Weekends
"Clayface" earned $43 million globally in its opening weekend, marking the second consecutive weekend the Skydance-linked Paramount-Warner Bros. venture topped the box office.
DC’s "Clayface" debuted with a $43 million worldwide opening, delivering the newly merged Paramount-Warner Bros. (operating under Skydance) its second straight weekend at the top of the global box office. The film earned $24 million domestically and $19 million from 76 international territories, surpassing the opening totals of Universal’s horror title "Other Mommy" in several markets, including the United Kingdom, Australia, France and Brazil.
In the United States, "Clayface" outperformed A24’s documentary "You Can See Everything," while the latter is scheduled for international releases later in November. The film’s performance in Italy and South Korea also exceeded recent openings by other titles, such as "Supergirl" and the local debut of "Street Fighter."
Other releases this weekend included Sony-handled foreign distribution of "The Cat in the Hat," which is expected to reclaim the No. 1 spot in early November, and Laika’s stop-motion film "Wildwood," which opened with $11.3 million in North America and $3 million abroad.
Industry data showed that the third-weekend global total for "Other Mommy" was $9.2 million across 68 territories, while the video-game adaptation "Street Fighter" posted a $16.8 million worldwide frame, holding strong in IMAX venues.
Overall, the weekend highlighted the continued strength of the Skydance-backed studio slate, with "Clayface" delivering solid audience scores and positioning the combined Paramount-Warner Bros. entity as a consistent box-office leader.
