Singapore's air quality improves in some regions as haze eases

सारांश

On Sunday, three Singapore regions recorded unhealthy PSI levels while the other two fell to good-moderate ranges, and PM2.5 concentrations stayed within normal limits across the island.

Air quality in Singapore showed mixed results on Sunday, Oct 25, as three regions remained in the unhealthy PSI band while the south and north moved into the good-to-moderate range. The south's 24-hour PSI dropped to 100 at 10 a.m. and was 97 at 1 p.m., and the north fell to 99 at the same time. The remaining regions recorded PSI values between 104 and 124.

Hourly PM2.5 measurements stayed within the normal range in all five regions, ranging from 30 to 52 micrograms per cubic metre.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) had forecast Sunday’s PSI to vary between 80 and 130, covering both good-to-moderate and unhealthy bands. > "Winds are expected to blow from the southwest or west, which could limit transport of smoke haze to Singapore," the agency said, noting that anticipated showers could further alleviate haze. > "With showers expected over Singapore and the vicinity, the haze situation is likely to improve," NEA added, projecting similar wind patterns for Monday and Tuesday.
