Air quality in Singapore improves as PSI readings fall in south and north regions

सारांश

On Sunday, Singapore's 24-hour PSI dropped to the good-moderate range in the south and north, while other areas remained unhealthy but showed a downward trend.

Air quality across Singapore improved on Sunday, with the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) falling to the good-moderate band in the south and north regions. The southern reading dipped to 100 at 10 a.m., moving out of the unhealthy range, and the northern reading fell to 99 at 1 p.m. By 3 p.m., the PSI stood at 96 in the south and 97 in the north. Readings in the western, central and eastern parts of the island continued to decline but stayed within the unhealthy band, ranging from 103 to 121. Hourly PM2.5 levels remained in the normal range across all five regions, between 20 and 30.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) had forecast a Sunday PSI range of 80 to 130, covering both good-moderate and unhealthy levels. > "Winds are expected to blow from the southwest or west, which could limit transport of smoke haze to Singapore," the agency said, noting that anticipated showers could further improve conditions. The agency added that similar wind patterns are expected on Monday and Tuesday, and > "With showers expected over Singapore and the vicinity, the haze situation is likely to improve."
