German automaker Audi disclosed a $4.2 billion investment to construct its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Macon, Georgia. The facility is planned to produce roughly 200,000 premium SUVs annually and is expected to generate around 4,500 jobs, according to state officials.

President Donald Trump announced the deal at a campaign rally in Perry, Georgia, saying construction could start as early as next month. He credited Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick with helping secure the agreement and introduced Audi executives onstage, including CEO Gernot Döllner and North America President Vito Paladino.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for Audi, for the Audi team and for America," Döllner said, adding that the company intends to bring its largest and most premium SUVs to the U.S. market.

Trump also referenced broader auto industry investments totaling $40 billion that he said would create 30,000 jobs. The announcement follows other initiatives he unveiled during recent campaign events.
