Jaylen Brown says there is no conflict with Jayson Tatum after trade to 76ers

Resumen

Boston forward Jaylen Brown told reporters there is no animosity toward former teammate Jayson Tatum following Brown's move to Philadelphia, while Tatum echoed the sentiment.

Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown said there is no conflict with former teammate Jayson Tatum after the Celtics traded Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in the offseason. Brown told reporters on Saturday that he and Tatum are "blessed" and that any talk of "beef" is unfounded, emphasizing that the situation is simply a basketball transaction.

"I saw that he said, 'It's no beef.' And I think he's right, there's no beef," Brown said. "Jayson comes from a wonderful family, we've accomplished some great things, he's a great basketball player and he has a solid public-relations team. It's just basketball."

The trade, completed on July 1, sent Brown to Philadelphia in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks. Tatum responded to the move in a video posted to his YouTube channel, describing his surprise at the news but denying any hostility.

"For me, I understand we're in the entertainment business. I don't have any animosity or beef or ill will towards him," Tatum told reporters on Friday. "The narrative has focused on drama rather than what we accomplished together."

Tatum added that the situation is not comparable to past NBA rivalries. Both players reflected on their shared success, including a 2024 championship season in which the Celtics posted a 64-18 regular-season record and a 16-3 playoff record. During the 2025-26 season, Brown emerged as Boston's leading scorer while Tatum recovered from an Achilles injury before the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
