Google expands Gemini app's Personal Intelligence with deeper Maps integration

Resumen

Google's Gemini app adds enhanced Google Maps features to its Personal Intelligence service, allowing the AI to suggest locations based on calendar events and saved places.

Google announced that the Personal Intelligence feature in its Gemini app will now integrate more closely with Google Maps. The update expands the AI's ability to use a user’s search history and saved locations, enabling queries such as asking for a restaurant recommendation near the end of a scheduled meeting. The service combines map data with Calendar access to provide tailored suggestions for the day.

Personal Intelligence draws on emails, documents, photos, videos and other personal content to customize Gemini responses without requiring detailed user prompts. Since its launch, the Connected App’s "Search services" have allowed Gemini to access Search, Maps, Shopping, News, and Google Flights and Hotels.

Users can enable Personal Intelligence through the settings page on gemini.google.com. In parallel, Google informed Gemini Ultra subscribers that the upcoming Gemini 4 Argon model will soon replace the current "Deep Think" reasoning mode, which is currently available as a higher-level option in Gemini 3.1 Pro.
