Apple readies large iPhone Duo displays outside Fifth Avenue store
Apple is setting up sizable iPhone Duo installations on the plaza of its Fifth Avenue flagship ahead of the device's launch on October 23, while preparing extensive in-store displays.
Apple is installing large iPhone Duo displays on the plaza beside the glass cube at its Fifth Avenue flagship in New York as the company gears up for the device's launch on Friday, October 23. User-posted photos on X show the structures wrapped in black covers, leaving the final presentation details unclear.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said Apple will place more than 150 iPhone Duo units in the store for demonstrations, a figure far above the roughly 20 units expected at typical non-flagship locations.
Gurman also noted that Apple will use a new fixture to showcase the foldable design, allowing the device to open and close on display, and a separate MagSafe stand will position an unfolded iPhone Duo next to two standard iPhones for side-by-side comparison.
The outdoor installations follow a series of recent changes to the store's launch décor, including a color update to the cube for the previous iPhone 18 Pro release. The iPhone Duo will be available for limited walk-in purchase in the United States and several other markets on launch day, with Apple warning that inventory is expected to sell out quickly. In mainland China, France, Japan and other regions, customers must reserve a pickup time through Apple’s online store.
MacRumors will be on site for the launch event at the Fifth Avenue store.
