Dillon Danis says Conor McGregor remains determined during knee recovery
Friend and training partner Dillon Danis reported that Conor McGregor is focused on rehabilitation after ACL surgery and aims to return to competition.
Conor McGregor’s planned return to the octagon was halted by a severe knee injury early in his bout at UFC 329. According to longtime friend and training associate Dillon Danis, the Irish fighter is now concentrating on his recovery following ACL reconstruction surgery.
Danis told MMA Fighting reporter Mike Heck that the setback left McGregor “in a dark place,” but emphasized the athlete’s resolve. He said McGregor is surrounded by medical support, follows a strict exercise regimen, and has isolated himself in Los Angeles to focus on rehabilitation.
"He is focused right now. I talk to him almost every day and he’s in a good spot," Danis added.
McGregor still has one fight left on his current UFC contract and has previously indicated a desire to compete again by International Fight Week in 2027, though no bout has been scheduled.
Danis expressed confidence that McGregor is doing “everything possible” to make a successful comeback.
