DNA Evidence Links Suspect to Charlie Kirk's Murder, Says FBI Director
FBI Director Kash Patel reports that DNA evidence ties suspect Tyler Robinson to the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
DNA evidence has linked Tyler Robinson, 22, to the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.
Patel stated that DNA found on a towel wrapped around a rifle near the crime scene matches Robinson's. Additionally, DNA on a screwdriver recovered from the rooftop where the fatal shot was fired also corresponds to Robinson.
Robinson was arrested on Thursday after a 33-hour manhunt. Authorities plan to file capital murder charges against him as early as Tuesday.
Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of President Donald Trump, was shot last Wednesday during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.
Investigators discovered that Robinson had written a note expressing his intent to target Kirk. Although the note was destroyed, forensic evidence confirmed its contents.
Robinson's family and friends reported that he had been spending significant time on the "dark corners of the internet" and had developed a "leftist ideology" in recent years.
The murder has intensified concerns about political violence in the United States, prompting calls for action from various political figures.
