Julia Stiles reunites '10 Things I Hate About You' cast for Heath Ledger tribute on Dancing With the Stars

Summary

Julia Stiles performed a contemporary dance with Ezra Sosa on Dancing With the Stars' Dedication Night, featuring a reunion of her '10 Things I Hate About You' co-stars to honor late co-star Heath Ledger.

Julia Stiles honored the late Heath Ledger during Tuesday’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars.” On the show’s Dedication Night, she and partner Ezra Sosa performed a contemporary routine to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” echoing the 1999 film “10 Things I Hate About You,” in which Ledger’s character sang the same song to Stiles’s character.

Stiles told Variety that she insisted the entire cast join her on stage to represent Ledger’s legacy, and they agreed to appear. She noted that the blue dress and hairstyle she wore for the performance were reminiscent of her look in the film.

“At 17 years old, I never would have thought that here I’d be at 45, celebrating my body, dancing on the show that I love and that fans are still interested in this movie and still moved and touched by this movie.”

Earlier in the week, Stiles said the rehearsals were emotionally challenging, recalling how clips and audio from the film brought back memories and even caused her to cry during practice.

“One of the things that we really hope to do as performers is to make people feel something and have people care about the work that you do, and his memory lives on because it was such an incredible performance.”

Heath Ledger died in January 2008 at the age of 28.
