Five useful tweaks to maximize Samsung One UI 9 on Galaxy devices

Samsung’s One UI 9.0 update, based on Android 17, arrived on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and introduces several everyday-focused enhancements. While the update adds new capabilities, many are not enabled by default, prompting users to adjust settings for optimal use.

The Quick Settings panel now allows independent tiles for dark mode and sound mode, and users can resize or reposition the brightness and volume sliders, even switching them to a vertical orientation for finer control. The media controller is also resizable, letting users place compact controls alongside the sliders for thumb-friendly access.

Good Lock’s Home Up module (version 18.0.0.24) expands multi-finger gesture support, offering up to 36 combinations across two- to five-finger inputs. Users can assign actions such as screenshots, app switching, volume adjustment, and quick access to dark mode or the AI assistant, provided the navigation bar is set to swipe gestures.

The QuickStar module, also part of Good Lock, adds a native network-speed indicator to the status bar, eliminating the need for third-party apps. After installing QuickStar from the Galaxy Store, the indicator can be toggled on in the module’s visibility settings.

AI Network Guard, located in the Connectivity Labs menu under Intelligent Wi-Fi, enables per-app internet blocking. By setting a Guardian PIN, users can restrict apps like Instagram from accessing the network, which can also suppress in-app ads.

Motion Assist, accessible via Settings > Google > All services > Personal & device safety, displays drifting shapes along the screen edges when the phone detects vehicle motion. This visual cue aims to reduce motion sickness for passengers using the device.

These adjustments collectively enhance the functionality and comfort of One UI 9 on Galaxy smartphones.
