Eagles place quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve after earlier reports said otherwise
Philadelphia Eagles moved Jalen Hurts to injured reserve on Saturday, contradicting an earlier ESPN report that the team had not considered the option.
Philadelphia announced on Saturday afternoon that quarterback Jalen Hurts had been placed on injured reserve, ending his participation for at least four games. The move came after an ESPN report earlier that day, citing insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport, said the Eagles had not discussed the possibility of using injured reserve for Hurts.
"The ultimate decision about when Hurts returns to play will come from his medical team, and the Eagles are ready to follow his lead," the ESPN report stated.
The Eagles' decision follows medical evaluation of a blood clot in Hurts' leg that required treatment with blood thinners. The team indicated that the final determination would be made by Hurts' doctors. The shift from the morning report to the roster move suggests new medical information was received between the two updates.
Hurts' status will be reassessed as his treatment progresses, with the minimum absence set at four weeks pending further clearance from medical staff.
