Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin expected to miss several weeks after arm injury

Summary

Quarterback Julian Sayin suffered a right-arm injury in Ohio State's 19-15 win over Indiana and is projected to be sidelined for multiple games.

Ohio State coach Ryan Day said the Buckeyes' junior quarterback Julian Sayin will likely be out for several weeks after sustaining a right-arm injury on a sack during the fourth quarter of the 19-15 victory over No. 5 Indiana. Sayin was hit from his right side while attempting a pass, causing his throwing arm to be pinned awkwardly against his body. He returned to the sideline with his arm in a sling before being replaced by freshman quarterback Luke Fahey.

Sayin had completed 15 of 29 passes for 235 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions before leaving the game. The junior entered the season with a 71% completion rate, 1,772 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. He was a Heisman finalist in 2025, finishing fourth in voting.

Fahey, who entered the game after Sayin's injury, did not complete either of his two attempts against Indiana and has recorded 9 completions on 13 attempts for 203 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions across four games this season.

Ohio State (6-1) will have a bye in Week 8 before traveling to face No. 19 USC on Halloween, then hosting Oregon and Northwestern, and later visiting Nebraska before the regular-season finale against Michigan.

"He’ll probably be out for several weeks," Day said after the game.
