‘No Kings’ protest returns with dozens of rallies across Portland area
Organizers of the fourth annual “No Kings” protest plan more than 30 rallies in Portland, emphasizing nonpartisan voter turnout for the upcoming midterm elections.
The fourth nationwide “No Kings” protest day is set to take place in Portland on Saturday, with organizers scheduling over 30 rallies throughout the city. The event, which began last year, aims to encourage voter participation ahead of the midterm elections.
Indivisible, the group coordinating a rally at Salmon Street Springs in downtown Portland, described the day as “a day of nonpartisan voter participation.” While the movement does not align itself with any political party, its messaging has consistently opposed President Donald Trump and his agenda.
The protest’s website states, “In America, we have no kings. Power does not belong to billionaires, strongmen or politicians who believe they are above accountability.” The organizers hope the series of gatherings will boost turnout, building on the large crowds that attended previous “No Kings” days in Portland and across the country.
