NVIDIA Refutes RTX 5090 Discontinuation Claims, Cites Limited Supply

Senior vice president Jeff Fisher told Taiwanese media that the RTX 5090 has not been discontinued, though availability remains constrained.

NVIDIA senior vice president Jeff Fisher said the company has not discontinued the GeForce RTX 5090, responding to circulating rumors after the RTX Spark launch event in Taipei on Oct. 16. Fisher told Taiwanese media that the product will continue to be shipped, but acknowledged that supply is currently tight.

The clarification comes amid reports that major retailers such as Microcenter and the NVIDIA online store no longer list the RTX 5090, leading some observers to assume the card had been withdrawn from the consumer market. Fisher emphasized that the card remains in production and that the shortage reflects high demand rather than a halt in manufacturing.

"It has definitely not been discontinued. NVIDIA will continue to ship it, and this is very important," Fisher said.

Industry commentators noted that the RTX 5090 is positioned as a high-end offering for both gaming and AI workloads, and that limited inventory may be a result of prioritizing enterprise customers and original-equipment-manufacturer partners.

NVIDIA did not provide specific production numbers or a timeline for when broader availability might improve.
