Résumé

Authorities identified a 25-year-old teacher and a 5-year-old student among the four people killed in a shooting at a Bend, Oregon elementary school, while a bystander killed the suspect.

Bend police confirmed that the victims of Thursday's shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School include 25-year-old teacher Meghan Lambert and 5-year-old student Rhoam Summer. Two additional children, ages 8 and 11, were also killed, though their families have not released their names.

A 7-year-old girl and a 54-year-old teacher were injured; the girl remains in serious but stable condition at Oregon Health & Science University, and the teacher is being treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries at St. Charles Medical Center.

Police identified the shooter as Griffin J. John II, a former special-needs student at the school. He was shot and killed by a bystander, identified as Kaylub Giamanco, who declined public recognition.

Bend-La Pine Schools Superintendent Steven Cook said the incident occurred in a special-needs classroom, and no motive has been disclosed. Community members have placed flowers, balloons and stuffed animals around the school as memorials.
