Cardinals' Jeremiah Love doubtful for Week 6 vs Rams
Running back Jeremiah Love is dealing with ankle issues and is unlikely to play in the Cardinals' Week 6 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Arizona Cardinals listed running back Jeremiah Love as questionable after he has been managing a high-ankle sprain from preseason and may have aggravated the opposite ankle in Week 4. Coach Jonathan LaFleur said the team’s approach is to give the injury “a little bit of rest and see as the week goes on.”
Love’s limited involvement this season has been reflected in his low route-participation rate of 29 percent and modest target numbers. LaFleur noted that the Cardinals’ pass-blocking struggles have restricted Love’s role as a pass catcher, adding, “I wasn’t too confident in terms of getting into some of those ‘scat’ protections and stuff like that and five-man protections.”
He saw action early in the game against the Detroit Lions, recording the only carry for Arizona in the first quarter, but was sidelined later as the offense shifted to a pass-heavy approach. In the fourth quarter, Love was observed on the sideline without a helmet, and a reporter indicated he had not received immediate attention from the training staff, though Love confirmed he is still managing the ankle injury.
The running back was listed as a limited-practice participant after tweaking his ankle in the Week 4 loss to the New York Giants. While he remains on the roster for the upcoming game, his workload is expected to be limited as the team monitors his recovery.
