Packers running back Josh Jacobs removed from NFL exempt list, eligible for Week 7 debut
The NFL said running back Josh Jacobs will be taken off the commissioner exempt list on Monday and can play in Green Bay's Week 7 game against Detroit.
The NFL announced Friday that Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs will be removed from the commissioner exempt list on Monday, making him eligible to play in the team's Week 7 matchup with the Detroit Lions on Oct. 25. Jacobs had been placed on the list on Aug. 30 after a domestic-abuse arrest in May. The league said the ongoing investigation into the incident is not affected by his removal from the list.
Jacobs was arrested in northern Wisconsin on May 26 and charged with multiple counts of domestic abuse stemming from an incident three days earlier, during which he allegedly grabbed a woman trying to leave his garage and threw her to the ground. He pleaded no contest to battery and criminal damage to property last month.
Earlier this week the player filed a civil suit seeking an injunction and protective order to limit public release of evidence, including surveillance footage that the Brown County district attorney says supports the victim's account.
"He was excited to get back to work," said Jacobs' attorneys Clarence F. Duchac III, David Z. Chesnoff and Richard A. Schonfeld in a statement.
The NFL said the investigation remains ongoing and will continue independently of the roster change.
