Samsung's Galaxy S26 Series to Feature Qi2 Wireless Charging and Design Overhaul
Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series is expected to incorporate Qi2 wireless charging with built-in magnets and undergo significant design changes to enhance compatibility with magnetic accessories.
Samsung's forthcoming Galaxy S26 series is anticipated to integrate Qi2 wireless charging technology, featuring built-in magnets to improve alignment with compatible accessories. This marks a departure from the Galaxy S25 series, which required external cases for full Qi2 functionality.
To accommodate the Qi2 system, Samsung is reportedly redesigning the Galaxy S26's camera layout. Leaked renders suggest a horizontal camera bar spanning the device's width, reminiscent of designs seen in other flagship smartphones. This adjustment aims to prevent interference between the camera module and magnetic accessories, ensuring seamless attachment and functionality.
However, the inclusion of Qi2 magnets may necessitate the removal of certain features. For instance, Google's Pixel 10 series omitted reverse wireless charging due to physical constraints imposed by the magnet array. Samsung may face similar challenges in balancing new features with existing functionalities.
Additionally, the Galaxy S26 series is expected to adopt a slimmer profile. Reports indicate that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will measure 7.8mm in thickness, down from 8.2mm in its predecessor, while the Galaxy S26 Pro will be 6.7mm thick, compared to 7.2mm previously. Despite the reduced thickness, the devices are projected to support Qi2 wireless charging with built-in magnets.
These developments reflect Samsung's commitment to enhancing user experience through improved wireless charging capabilities and thoughtful design modifications in its upcoming flagship lineup.
