Brewers take 3-0 lead over Dodgers to clinch NL pennant

Resumen

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 in Game 4, completing a sweep of the National League Championship Series and advancing to the World Series for the first time in 44 years.

Milwaukee completed a sweep of the National League Championship Series on Thursday night at Dodger Stadium, beating Los Angeles 6-2 to claim the National League pennant and a berth in the World Series. The victory gave the Brewers a 3-0 series lead and ended the Dodgers' title defense.

The Brewers' pitching staff limited the Dodgers to two runs over the series, while the offense produced five runs, out-hitting Los Angeles despite having the second-fewest home runs in the majors this season. Jackson Chourio opened the game with a solo home run off Dodgers starter Blake Snell, and the Brewers added runs in the sixth inning when catcher Will Smith hit a two-run double.

"The belief had to be there at some point," Brewers manager Pat Murphy said. "It’s not something that just appeared overnight. The guys have been talking about it all season."

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts declined to reference a historic stolen-base clip from his playing days, saying, "Absolutely not, no."

Milwaukee will face the winner of the Tampa Bay Rays-Cleveland Guardians series in the World Series, which begins in eight days in Milwaukee.

The Brewers' regular-season record of 103 wins made them the league’s most successful team, and the sweep marks a reversal of the previous year’s NLCS outcome, when the Dodgers won the series.
