Brewers take 6-2 lead in NLCS Game 3 as Dodgers trail 3-0
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, putting the Dodgers on the brink of a 3-0 series deficit.
The Milwaukee Brewers rallied for a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series at Dodger Stadium, giving the Dodgers a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Blake Snell started for the Dodgers and allowed a two-run homer to Jake Bauers in the seventh inning, extending the Brewers’ lead. Earlier, Garrett Mitchell added a solo homer, sealing the Dodgers’ loss. Snell struck out nine batters over six innings but gave up three home runs, the first he had allowed all season.
Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy said the team must “make a little more history” to stay alive, emphasizing the need for hits and solid pitching. Veteran utility player Miguel Rojas praised Will Smith’s two-run double that gave the Brewers a brief lead, noting the difficulty of describing the moment.
Will Smith’s double followed a walk to Shohei Ohtani that loaded the bases. After the Brewers added runs in the ninth inning, the Dodgers were unable to mount a comeback.
"It sucks," Snell said of falling behind 3-0, adding that the team must “bounce back” and “find a way to win.”
"To have three in a game is pretty frustrating," Snell said, noting he will learn from the experience.
"That was the game right there," catcher Kiké Hernández said, urging the team to put the ball in play.
"This is uncharted territory for us," Rojas said, describing the challenge of overcoming the deficit despite the talent on the roster.
The Dodgers now face the task of winning four consecutive games to advance to the World Series, a feat only achieved once in MLB history when the 2004 Boston Red Sox erased a 3-0 deficit in the American League Championship Series.
