Ravens rookie Ja'Kobi Lane expected to return in Week 6 after wrist surgery
Ja'Kobi Lane will miss at least four games following wrist surgery but is projected to be eligible to play in Week 6, while fellow receiver Zay Flowers remains sidelined with a hamstring issue.
Ja'Kobi Lane, the Baltimore Ravens' third-round rookie wide receiver, underwent surgery to treat a fractured wrist suffered in the team's Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The procedure places him on short-term injured reserve, requiring a minimum four-game absence. Team officials indicated that Lane could be cleared to return by Week 6.
Lane recorded one catch for 11 yards in his debut and logged 24 first-half snaps, the second-most among Ravens receivers in that period. Prior to the injury, he was slated for a significant role in the passing game.
The Ravens also listed wide receiver Zay Flowers as doubtful after the player aggravated a hamstring injury he was recently rehabilitating. Rookie Elijah Sarratt is expected to be active for the Week 2 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, though his role may depend on Flowers' availability.
Lane, selected 80th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, impressed during training camp with contested catches and earned praise from quarterback Lamar Jackson and offensive coordinator Declan Doyle. Coaches highlighted his size and red-zone potential, suggesting he could compete for a spot among the team's top three receivers.
The team will reassess Lane's status ahead of the Week 2 game, with further updates expected as his recovery progresses.
