Collin Gosselin alleges childhood abuse and seeks apology from mother Kate Gosselin

Resumen

The former reality-TV star claims he suffered physical abuse and forced psychiatric medication as a child and says reconciliation with his estranged mother will require an apology and accountability.

Collin Gosselin, 22, announced the release of his memoir "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood," in which he alleges that his mother, Kate Gosselin, subjected him to physical abuse, isolation and forced psychiatric medication during his upbringing. He told Fox News Digital that he has not spoken to his mother since he was 13 and that any future reconciliation would depend on her offering an apology and taking responsibility for the alleged mistreatment.

"I'd like an apology, simply put, an apology and for her to admit, and just take accountability for what she did," Gosselin said.

The memoir describes his experience in a treatment facility as comparable to a juvenile detention center and says the medication left him feeling detached. Gosselin added that he maintained hope during his most difficult periods and that sharing his story had been a long-standing burden.

"I had very little hope, but I always had some, and I hung on to that … I just kept telling myself that there's a better future for me," he said.

He recalled a brief visit from his mother at age 13, describing it as a painful encounter, and said he remains open to hearing from her, but emphasized that forgiveness would not automatically lead to reconciliation.

"Reconciliation requires action and accountability," he said.

Gosselin is also appearing as a contestant on the fifth season of FOX's "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test," noting that returning to television as an adult allows him to control his own narrative.

"It was so powerful to be able to come back to TV on my own terms as an adult," he said.

His memoir is currently available.
