Collin Gosselin Says He May Pursue Legal Action Over Alleged Abuse by Mother

Resumen

The former reality-TV star said he is considering filing a police report and is gathering documentation related to alleged abuse by his estranged mother, Kate Gosselin.

Collin Gosselin, 22, told Page Six that he is exploring the possibility of filing a police report against his mother, Kate Gosselin, for alleged abuse during his childhood. He said he believes he has sufficient grounds and emphasized the importance of seeking justice for other children.

"It is possible, yes. I have the grounds to do so," Gosselin said, adding that he will continue to fight and investigate the matter.

The claims are detailed in his memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, in which he alleges that Child and Youth Services received 14 complaints about his mother, a fact he only learned as an adult. He said he is reviewing records and following a “paper trail” to substantiate his allegations.

Gosselin also accused the network behind the family’s former TLC series of shielding his mother and downplaying the alleged incidents. He recounted being questioned by CYS workers at his family home but said he was too frightened to disclose details at the time.

According to the memoir, Gosselin was once restrained with zip ties by his mother before being taken to a hospital, where he reported the incident to a CYS worker. He claims to retain documentation of that event and expects it may become public.

He further alleged that his mother attempted to conceal evidence by dressing him quickly after the incident and that she had previously pulled him across a room by his ear, resulting in a swollen ear.

Representatives for Kate Gosselin and the network did not respond to requests for comment. In a September 2024 Instagram post, Kate Gosselin described her son as having multiple psychiatric diagnoses and said he was placed in a behavioral health facility in 2016 following an emergency-room assessment. She characterized his claims as fabrications and expressed concern about his ongoing mental-health challenges.

Collin has been estranged from his mother since 2016 and currently appears in the Fox reality competition Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. His father, Jon Gosselin, obtained legal and physical custody of Collin in 2018 after the boy was removed from the facility.
