Marvin Harrison Jr. Completes Physical and Joins Texans After Trade with Cardinals

Résumé

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. passed his physical with the Houston Texans, finalizing a trade that sends Arizona a 2027 second-round pick and a seventh-rounder, after negotiations were influenced by the Texans' early-season performance.

Houston confirmed that third-year wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. passed his physical on Monday, clearing the way for his debut with the team. The trade sends the player to the Texans in exchange for a 2027 second-round selection and a seventh-round pick from Houston. Earlier reports suggested a 2028 second-rounder might be part of the deal, but the Cardinals agreed to the earlier 2027 pick.

According to veteran insider Jordan Schultz, negotiations were limited to the two clubs despite speculation that other teams, including the Colts, Raiders and Ravens, were interested. The Cardinals had deactivated Harrison for Sunday’s game amid trade rumors, and the physical completion allowed the deal to be finalized.

Schultz noted that Houston’s 0-4 start through Week 4 heightened its urgency for receiving help, and the team reportedly linked the inclusion of the second-round pick to a potential win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 5. The Texans ultimately chose to proceed with the trade regardless of the outcome, indicating they view Harrison as a key piece for the roster.

The move adds to Houston’s recent investments at receiver, joining earlier selections of Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, as well as the addition of Kayshon Boutte. Harrison is expected to line up alongside Nico Collins, providing depth to a receiving corps that has dealt with injuries.

"We’re excited to have Marvin on board and believe he can contribute immediately," a Texans spokesperson said.

The trade gives Arizona a 2027 second-rounder and a seventh-rounder, assets the Cardinals can use to address other roster needs.
