Actress Selma Blair Charged with Second-Degree Assault After In-Flight Incident
Selma Blair was arrested and charged with second-degree assault following an alleged assault on a Delta flight, and was released on a $20,000 bail after appearing in Queens Criminal Court.
Selma Blair was charged with second-degree assault after police detained her following an incident on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York on Sunday. Court records show she posted a $20,000 bail, paid by credit card, and was released on Monday.
According to court documents, the actress was taken into custody by a Port Authority officer after allegedly punching one flight attendant, biting another, and attempting to open the aircraft door while the plane was in the air. Law enforcement met her at John F. Kennedy Airport, where she was transported to a hospital for evaluation. Two flight attendants received medical treatment for injuries sustained during the episode.
"Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition," a spokesperson for Blair told Variety.
Blair has previously described a 2016 in-flight episode in which she was removed from a plane while traveling with her son, attributing that event to a combination of alcohol and medication.
"It was horrible and frightening, and I had empathy for myself actually afterward because it was actually so out of character for me, especially because I’m a mother," she said at the time.
