Brewers take 2-0 lead over Dodgers in NLCS Game 2
Milwaukee defeated Los Angeles 7-4 in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, extending their series lead to 2-0.
Milwaukee secured a 7-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday, giving the Brewers a 2-0 series advantage. William Contreras hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, and the Brewers' bullpen delivered 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing only one run in the game.
The Dodgers opened the scoring in the first inning, but the Brewers responded in the bottom of the inning and tied the game. Milwaukee added runs in the third and sixth innings, capitalizing on hits and defensive miscues by Los Angeles. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who started for the Dodgers, was limited to 2.2 innings, giving up four hits and three runs.
Milwaukee’s relief corps, featuring JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe, Trevor Megill, Aaron Ashby and others, continued a strong postseason run, extending a streak of nearly 29 innings with only one run allowed. The win marked the first time a postseason team’s bullpen recorded more than five innings without allowing a baserunner.
The game featured several key moments, including a sacrifice fly by Teoscar Hernández that gave the Dodgers an early lead, a defensive play by Sal Frelick that prevented a Dodgers double, and a series of timely hits by Brewers players such as David Hamilton and Jake Bauers. The Brewers now head back to Los Angeles with a chance to further extend their series lead.
