Jaguars win 19-17 on last-second field goal in London

Résumé

The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 19-17 after Cam Little kicked a 57-yard field goal as time expired in the NFL International Series game in London.

The Jacksonville Jaguars secured a 19-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in London after a 57-yard field goal by Cam Little as the clock hit zero. The game-winning kick came following a seven-second, 53-yard kickoff return by Ameer Abdullah that set up the final play.

The Eagles had taken a 17-16 lead with eight seconds remaining after a field goal, but a mismanaged clock left them with insufficient time to attempt a final kick. Defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton, who filled in for injured long snapper Ross Matiscik, successfully snapped the ball for Little’s successful attempt.

Both teams experienced missed opportunities during the contest. The Jaguars failed to convert twice from the one-yard line, once in the second quarter and again in the fourth, after a series of penalties and a timeout. Philadelphia also struggled with clock management in the closing moments.

Wide receiver Parker Washington contributed two touchdowns— a 51-yard reception in the first quarter and a 27-yard catch in the fourth— and finished with six receptions for 124 yards. He also returned a punt that helped the Jaguars control the clock later in the game.

Injuries affected both squads. Jacksonville saw left tackle Anton Harrison leave with a knee injury and cornerback Montaric Brown suffer a hamstring issue. Philadelphia lost running back Will Shipley, guard Tyler Steen, safety Michael Carter and linebacker Jalyx Hunt to various injuries.

The win improved the Jaguars to 4-1 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 2-3, prompting questions about the effectiveness of Philadelphia’s offense moving forward.
