Apple to Deploy Over 100 iPhone Duo Demo Units at Major Stores Ahead of Launch

Summary

Apple plans to place more than 100 demo units of its upcoming iPhone Duo across flagship locations, including a dedicated stand and new in-store fixtures, as the device approaches its October 23 release.

Apple is preparing a large-scale retail rollout for the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone slated for release on October 23. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the company will install more than 100 hands-on demo units at key Apple Store locations. The flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City is set to feature over 150 units across dedicated demo stations, while the Apple Park Visitor Center will host nearly 100. Additional stores such as Michigan Avenue in Chicago, the Grove in Los Angeles and the Upper West Side in Manhattan are each expected to receive 30-40 units, with smaller stores getting around 20.

"The company is preparing a major retail push, with a huge number of demo units at its flagship stores," Gurman wrote.

Apple has also designed a new MagSafe stand capable of holding an unfolded iPhone Duo alongside two standard iPhones, likely the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Some demo units will be untethered to allow customers to test features like StandBy mode. New fixtures will showcase the Duo’s opening and closing mechanism, ensuring visibility for shoppers entering the stores.

The extensive demo presence aims to give customers ample opportunity to experience the device before it becomes available for preorder on October 16.
